The American Association for Justice released a report ranking the ten worst insurance companies in America. The full report is here. The findings of the report rank Allstate the worst insurance company in America. The report was compiled from a variety of sources, including depositions of former insurance adjusters and agents.
One former Allstate adjuster placed her company’s policies into context: “we were told to lie by our supervisors – it’s tough to look at people and know you’re lying.” The report highlights an abusive measure taken by some insurance companies known as “deny, delay, defend.” According to the report, Allstate went so far as to award adjusters who deny the most claims with portable refrigerators.
The ten worst companies listed in the report are:
1. Allstate
2. Unum
3. AIG
4. State Farm
5. Conseco
6. WellPoint
7. Farmers
8. UnitedHealth
9. Torchmark
10. Liberty Mutual
